The forces of Social computing are upon us! These days, features like rating and commenting in portal solutions are almost as ubiquitous as a Twitting teenager. However, SharePoint provides little out of the box in terms of providing rating and commenting on custom lists. There are certainly a number of third-party tools designed to do just this (including 3Sharp’s Podcasting Kit for SharePoint), but they all require some kind of server modification such as a custom databases or managed code assemblies. Why bother with such complexities when you can go lean and green by using SharePoint’s organic set of tools – SharePoint Designer, JavaScript, XSLT – to achieve the same end? This session will show you how. Granted, some coding is required, but it’s all lightweight and declarative only."
